Today we will begin our scene writing!  I'm so excited! You will learn about what goes in to writing a play.  We will begin with an activity about the structural elements of a play.   Think of a movie you liked: Who was the main character? What did they want to do during the movie? What stopped them from doing it? What did they do to try and get what they wanted? What happened in the end? Did they get what they wanted? Discuss: Character:  Protagonist, antagonist Objective: Goal, need, or want of a character Obstacle: What or who is getting in the way of the character achieving their objective? Tactics: What does the character DO to get around the obstacle? Resolution: How does the story end? Does the character get what he or she wants? What would a movie be like without a conflict (objective/obstacle) Crumpled Paper Activity!  You will LOVE this

Next comes the delicious multimillion-dollar contract. And that's when you must do what most NBA players do: start going through cash like Jack Black through the Keebler factory. Filing for bankruptcy is a long-standing tradition for NBA players, 60% of whom, according to the Toronto Star, are broke five years after they retire. The other 40% deliver the Toronto Star. It's not just NBA players who have the fiscal sense of the Taco Bell Chihuahua. All kinds of athletes wind up with nothing but lint in their pockets. A

Today we get to hear two authors speak!   ABOUT THE DREADFUL TALE OF PROSPER REDDING LEMONY SNICKET meets HOCUS POCUS in this darkly delightful MG contemporary fantasy about a modern New England boy who must rid himself of the ancient demon inhabiting his body and break his family’s curse. The first in a duology, the book follows Prosper, who is the only unexceptional Redding in his old and storied family history—that is, until he discovers the demon living inside him. Turns out Prosper’s great-great-great-great-great-something grandfather made—and then broke—a contract with a malefactor, a demon who exchanges fortune for eternal servitude. And, weirdly enough, eight-hundred-year-old Alastor isn’t exactly the forgiving type.      The fiend has reawakened with one purpose--to destroy the family whose success he ensured and who then betrayed him.  With only days to break the curse and banish Alastor back to the demon realm, Prosper is playing unwilling host to the fiend, who deligh
