Monday, March 5th and Tuesday, March 6th

Today we will finish up our activity from Thursday. Show us your A,B,C,D scene with stage directions

Then, we will play a game to help us prepare for scene writing.

Scene Ingredients
NO narrators allowed Well-developed characters
Time and place is clear
The character wants something
Multiple attempts by the character to get what he or she wants
A resolution
Meaningful, believable dialogue
Stage directions
Takes place in ONE location

With the partner Mrs. K assigns you, write a scene about:

  1. A bride on her way to her wedding, her father is beside her
  2. A couple arguing on their first date
  3. The funeral of a man who was married five times
  4. Guests sitting in the ‘green room’ of a talk show
  5. A sibling trying to convince his  sibling to lie for him
  6. A bridegroom and his best man waiting at the altar
  7. A student in the AP's office trying to get out of trouble
We will be evaluating the scenes

1.  What did the character want?
2. Were there multiple obstacles in the character's way?  Could there have been more?
3. Is  dialogue  believable?
4. Is the setting (time and place clear)?
5 What suggestions do you have? We will then brainstorm ideas for our scenes. I will assign your partners. You can begin working.
